Is that a darker/softer lead to emphasize wrinkles and other important pieces of information? My own pencils are usually one shade of "grey" until I tighten them up with a softer lead for the final pencils.
I start off with a 2H or H lead and then I use a 2B - which has always been my weapon of choice - to tighten up figures/faces mostly or objects I know I’ll need to get somewhat right before inking. I’ve recently switched to using a blue lead first and I’m preferring that since it helps to have cleaner pencils. But in general, I am not concerned at all anymore about having tight enough pencils as I know I’ll be inking it anyway. Saves a lot of time now. Thanks for your question and hope this was helpful in some way!

I would like that very much and I’m glad you agree!

Got my first ever Winsor & Newton brush today, after several years of exclusively using a Raphael #2 for inking. Excited to see how this one rolls… also excited to figure out how to open this thing…
